Lanyards! Plus FANFEST!

Still got quite a few lanyards left and Kelduum has a button on his site for the ones that I sent him. I'm considering another order though debating if I want to do it or not, was thinking about a really big order but it's not cheap:S

Anyway, I got my vacation approved and my flight plus hotel are booked and confirmed. So I'll be at fanfest in Iceland. I also booked the Golden Circle tour and the charity dinner with Devs and CCP. I'm be staying at the Centerhotel Thingholt. Keld and I are already making plans to arrange Uni meetups while in Iceland so that we can mob places and be in good company should our enemies show up. I'm really looking forward to going and I do believe it's going to be a blast.

Thanks to a brave soul, I have discovered that the Lanyards can indeed be mailed first class to the world at a relatively low price. A single lanyard per package. So therefore, I give the option of one lanyard US and Canada, and one for anywhere else. If you want two, you'll just have to do multiple orders.

I also intend on taking some to Fanfest, it looks like I will be going, I don't have official word my vacation was approved yet but they didn't forsee any issues. Just have to wait and see.

As requested, the lanyards are back.

The new ones are strictly EVE University and not ILN lanyards. 11 ILN Lanyards remain and they will go first come first served, it's the only fair way to do it. I should be able to ship orders out fairly quickly and while the prices are fairly set, they may change if the shipping is more than expected. The new ones are heavier. If you need to, make multiple orders and I will combine them and ship them together.

One thing though, no more than 1 ILN lanyard per person so that as many as possible can get one.

Sadly I was informed that I shall have to turn in my very comfy, F150 rental truck for an actual company truck. The problem with the company trucks is they are completely no frills and fitted with black boxes that keep track of you all the time. The rental that I have, I can drive 12 hours in and not get sore, it's has provisions for me to play audio books through my radio. Who knows what the company truck will have, if anything.

A truly sad day indeed on the horizon. *sniff* I like my truck.

Thoughts on EVE Corps

You know, I've always found it partly amusing and annoying that virtually no other corp in EVE gets all the 'advice' and directives from people who are not in our corp and for the most part, haven't been. EVE University doesn't go around telling other corps how they should be run. And since we ARE just like any other corp in game and planning to stay that way, we're not part of CCP. We run the Uni the way we think it should be, just as all the rest of the corps in EVE are run. I will say this though, we have survived longer than they have as well, without splitting and breaking up, becoming two corps with a never ending civil war, or disbanding, so as a corp, I'd say we're doing pretty damn good.

One of the other laughable things about all the comments people make is that we're doing 'it' wrong. Really. If you feel so strongly about it, there's a few things you can do, start your own training corp or come give guest lectures. You wanna come give a lecture or ten on small gang PVP? We will happily let you, set up the schedule and provide voice for you. It's easy to do.

As for PVP, there's a few things different about the Uni that most people don't realize, we can't force the students to do anything. Yes, during wars we have restrictions and try to make the war as unpleasant as we can for our enemies, however, NOTHING prevents them from grabbing 2 other people and going hunting in peacetime OR wartime. Our FC's can quietly get two or three buddies to hunt with or they can invite anyone wanting to go, which is what most do. But we can't force them to do go out in small gangs at gunpoint. The option is there and has been.

Maybe we should start telling all these other corps how they should be run, after all, turn about is fair play and if they can blab at us unendingly about how we should do things, we should do the same thing to them.

BTW Poetic, I haven't blocked you here. You are not worth the effort. Perhaps you don't realize this but we are quite unconcerned about what you do, think or have to say. Frankly I'm a bit disappointed by your actions after I made the effort to prevent you from removed. But since you like to bloviate about what we're doing all the time, I have a paraphrased quote, just for you "No. Be a nice pod pilot. Conform. Stay silent. Admit you are inadequate."

But unfortunately, I won't be able to oops this war like the last one. But I am quite sure that our regular FC's and pilots will have little trouble with them. The corp is Let Us Sleep, which I've never heard of. It has about 14 members which means maybe 6 real people or less. I just hope they come out to fight and not just flit around in Dramiels.

How can you tell a Dramiel Pilot is a coward? He's in a Dramiel.

They remind me of the nano craze and are about as effective against our fleets. Sure they can pick off a lone ship but they basically die the moment they try a real engagement. Which is fine. As everyone knows, I have no mercy for our war targets. There's rumors that they like to ransom people. So if they pay us 5 billion isk, we'll overlook the war dec. Pay us 10 billion and we won't even set them -10.

Anyway, out on a new rig, which should be fun, especially now that the weather is cooling off finally. It's also nice to be in A/C again, since my apartment lacks that feature.

The war between B4D W01F and Ivy League is coming to an end. B4D W01F has retracted the war against Ivy League. The war will be declared as being over after approximately 24 hours.

It's kind of sad though, since the smack was rather light, and they actually came out to fight. I was having fun. But we did pound on them pretty hard today and they decided after that and Keld talking to them they'd rather retract. Which is okay. They hadn't quite realized what fighting the Uni is like but they came out and played, so props to them. We get so few that do that, so I think I can cheerfully say that I'm sorry we won't get a full week.

Not that I would have gotten more anyway, less than an hour after the fleet was over, the phone rang and I got the call, so it's pack up the work truck and head back to North Dakota. The fleet was alot of fun and everyone did a good job, I was quite pleased with how the fleet ran and how smoothly we were able to swap out SC's as they had to leave due to time.

For all those out there that don't like me and what not, I really don't care about you. Nothing you can do, no lies you can spew and no sock puppets you can create will ever be able to bother me. My enjoyment in EVE comes from seeing the Uni march to victory, proving that it's teamwork and discipline, as well as good leadership that wins the day. I don't claim to be a leet pvper and I certainly don't claim to be the best FC out there. But the fact that we win most of our wars and we give people the chance to FC and see for themselves if they can do it speaks for itself. And -I- know and am proud of being the one that started that path. My thanks to Morning Maniac for taking my ideas and dumping them back onto me, saying "Do it." It's thanks to him that I found my niche and enjoyment in EVE that relies not on killboards or rankings, but hearing it in the voices of my corp mates and students when they discover how fun leadership and PVP can be. Nothing could be sweeter.

There are few things more frustrating in the 'life' of a Uni director than the students that turn into monkey's, content only to throw their poo around and make life miserable for everyone else. They come into a corp that has existed for 7 years without their amazing intellect and poo filled hands, and will continue to exist then they go flying out the door with a spiked boot print on their ass. The part that burns us, is that despite the chances, despite the attempts to make them understand that they are only causing problems and NOT helping, they continue their march to getting their ass booted.

None of us like being the heavy, being the one to lay down the law to these people. To explain that yes, we accept damn near everyone, that we are nice and allow them to see and say more than most EVE corps, there are still rules and they are to be followed. In the end, the rules actually protect the students from us. Our original mandate allowed us to simply kick anyone that we felt was disruptive, for any reason. Instead we work hard to provide structure, avenues of help and understanding, chances for redemption. But there's the hard core few that piss on the hand trying to help them. They loudly proclaim their version of things, blatantly ignoring the fact they know very little of how things really work in the Uni. Then they bitch and whine when they're kicked about how mean and cruel we are.

Many directors are rather poor and devote all of their EVE time to the Uni. Many of the leadership work a great deal behind the scenes, getting things done out of the sight of others and do not proclaim their actions in seeking glory or recognition of them.

In the words of our Founder, the Uni is not a democracy, it's a dictatorship. The leaders will do what they think best for the Uni, and that path has worked for 7 years so far so I wouldn't expect any special whiny princesses to alter that path.

As for all the little ass monkey's out there, do realize that we know exactly what you're up to.

Apparently losing this week was so much fun, they want to try for two. Yet now they seem afraid to play in our yard so I'm sure our newly minted FC's will be spreading out in the EVE universe to find them. They also seem to be toning down their comments on the EVE O forum, perhaps hoping that everyone will forget they're currently losing to the bloodthirsty newbies of EVE Uni. Funny how that goes. And of course, there will be the usual excuses, "You blob, your fleets are too big, you use ECM." I'm sorry, but if you dec a corp that outnumbers you 16 to 1, it was your choice to face fleets you can't match.

They have also tried to play the 'teaching' card, by sending comments and convo's to players, explaining what they did wrong, claiming we don't do that in our fleets. Given I have personally witnessed it, I know it to be false. You don't 'teach' at a school by planting spies the week or so before, then attack it. We can see right through their attempt, since if they really wanted to teach, they simply had to talk to us and we'd of arranged something. Their spies would have easily found such information and they got it repeated to them by our Diplomat.

I swear there's a "Dec the Uni" playbook complete with boasts to make, excused and smacktalk to use in local. Seriously, the smack is like it's read from a script, it's virtually identical every war.

I'll be on days off soon, which means -I- get to lead fleets on reliable, fast internet. MUAHAHAHAHAHA.

War of Follies

The Uni is once again at war, against a pair of FW Minnie corps. While they actually do take the field, which makes them more entertaining than the vast majority of our enemies, they pretty much follow the playbook otherwise.

Ice Fire Warriors and Blacksite Prophecy are the two corps, who like to fly faction ship and T2 HAC's/Recons. Like most of our enemies, they follow the old "But we're getting more kills meme, followed by claiming our pilots can't PVP" Yet we're winning the isk war, as we usually do. The funniest analogy I can think of is a WWII one, in which are claiming victory because they took out more planes and destroyers while all their capital ships are sinking. They clearly can't see past the # of kills on their killboard to understand why their losing.

Their pilots are more experienced than the vast majority of ours of course, having several years in game. Most of our pilots have been in game 3 months or less with a few that are older. So yeah, the high schoolers are celebrating cause it takes alot of 5 & 6 year old kids to bring them down.

Maybe one day they actually learn what it is that EVE Uni does in the game, since our main goal isn't to teach PVP, but the basics of the game. But we do let our kiddies run out to PVP and more so, we let them do so in charge if they wish. They lead the majority of the fleets of Uni's. So yeah, FC's in the game less than 6 months are figuring out on their own with just a few words of advice how to trap, pin and kill these guys.

So if any of the rest of the FW corps wanna come pick fights at the Elementary school, the teachers and kiddies will be waiting and ready to fight. And win or lose, the Uni learns and remembers. So 2 years down the line if a Uni cap fleet shows up at your POS's and burns them down, like we did to 17 Gummi Bear POS's in a wormhole, just remember that it was your choice.

On a further note, they have whined about me not posting losses. Perhaps if you click on the little statement at the top of the killboard that says, "Sorry for the downtime" You might get why. Plus I have limited access to the net out here at this rig in the barrens of North Dakota, so I post them as soon as I can. And if I can't get to it, I know that our automatic API posting script takes care of it. God they are such crybabies but then, since they have to resort to attacking the kiddies to pad their killboard, it's quite obvious how pitiful they are.

I'm once again in North Dakota, but I'm not quite as far north this time. I'm over near Alexander, North Dakota, and will likely be here for a full month or more. Which is fine with me, since that means lots and lots of kaching.

Before I left, I was able to hold a discussion on our Alliance's Mumble server and followed it up with a Rampage. Since we haven't many enemies with 0.0 space that we can get at, we went to the old Standby and hopped into BWF. As always, they brought out a ton of bombers but we managed some kills. And once again we were short on long range firepower and unable to kill the snipers at range. It was a glorious death for many, which is kind of the point of rampages, since it does help students learn that sometimes losing your ship isn't a bad thing. I intend to run another once I'm back, the rig net I'm on doesn't really lend itself to EVE combat.

The other fun thing at the moment is I'm trying to rewrite our SOP and make them a bit more accessible. Of course, I had them written in plain english, not lawyer speak but that was too hard so this time it'll be Texan speak. Meaning anyone trying to weasel the rules will simply be podded.

I also have my new portrait, which is fitting I think. It's too bad they don't have any military uniform style clothing options.

Sorry about the delay, I've just returned from the frozen wildlands of North Dakota after spending nearly an entire month working on two different rigs. I've gotten some things that will help me have better access while out on the rig sits so I'll be more active from now on.

An update first. I'm out of initial training and ready to head out into the field. This is the fun part, waiting.

Anyway, the Uni has two new wars, again they are 'contracts' which always seem to be claimed so that people can attempt to deflect criticism for going after newbies. It's honestly rather sad to see these guys always claim the exact same things. Seriously, you could swap the names and the exact same drivel from them. It also tells me there's alot of deeply flawed people out there. Course I already knew that.

Anyway, I get the feeling this will be our standard wars, ie faildecs.

I'm still in training at the moment but I figured I'd dash off an update. I now work for Halliburton Sperry as a MWD Field Engineer. It pays great, you get to roam around and you get some rather awesome benefits. I'm really looking forward to this posting and hope that I can do it for 4-5 years, since it pays some rather nice RL iskies.

A lesson in game mechanics

Poor Mitari Pontang, seems that someone created alt corps, joined his alliance to help him out and helped him right out of control of the alliance. Since they cost a cool billion isk to create, that's an expensive way to lose the war, which is now ending. Dunno what the guy will do with his alliance, he mentioned maybe selling it though.

You hear all the time about the big 'scandals' in EVE, but nothing is funnier than when wanna be 'bad boys' get scammed and wind up with a dumb look and wandering, "WTF just happened?!"

Isn't Karma a real bitch? Especially when she rams that 10 foot tree up your ass in the course of a lesson?

Oh and from some of the smack, apparently our mercs were attacking us due to some unhappy feelings from ex-Idle Empire members. It's not my fault they decced the Uni while making the mistake of having a findable POS and losing it plus three carriers. Oh wait, it is. Oops. Man that was fun.

I'm bored again, these war targets from both corps are utterly pathetic. Some friends of ours are running something to keep people busy today and teach them some stuff, but I'm bored. I miss actually /fighting/ wars, instead of just trying to keep from faceplanting onto my keyboard out of sheer boredom. On the plus side, I'm going to be busy tomorrow, not with EVE but with fun things like hedge trimming and shingle replacing. I would do it today but I'm not climbing on the roof or using power tools with cutting edges while this head cold has my head feeling like it's packed in cotton and stuck in a vise.

When is some INTELLIGENT and MONEY-HUNGRY software company going to remake X-COM, not in some stupid idiotic way but simply updating the things that make it great, turn based combat, creepy sounds and flaming awesome mix of the strategic and tactical fields of play. They don't need to change X-COM's rules, just update graphics and such. The core of the game is flaming perfect.

On the plus side, local is strangely quiet now. It was even quiet last night. Odd that (hehehehe). Instead, we had 5-6 wartargets in local Drat last night who just....sat there. Doing nothing. I even sat outside station for a while and nothing happened, not even when I was all alone in a safe spot, uncloaked and not moving. I might even have to change the rules for war-deccing the Uni now. Yes, I wrote them, Eyedoll stole them and started posting them on the EVE-O forums.

Eve as I speak, there's 2 war targets in local but they might as well be in Jove space, they certainly aren't doing anything or attacking anyone. You know, whoever is paying Everto Rex Regis to dec the Uni's, you wasted alot of money bub. And what is with merc corps who won't fight? Do they think it looks good on the old resume? "Hey I know, let's dec the Uni and not show up to fight." Yeah, how original.

Smack talk! Have they no shame?

Ubercado proposed this once, that there must be a website that our wartargets go to and download their smack talk, cause in 5 years, it hasn't changed. It's the same boring, inane and vulgar crap, written by a 12 year old and spouted by morons who don't even understand how stupid it makes them look.

More telling, is the fact that the more they smack, the less they fight. Which leads naturally to the thought "The Greater Smack, the Smaller the E-Peen." The most hilarious thing they claim, is that we're farming the newbies for isk....well, if that's the case, where the hell is my cut?! I'm poor in EVE. Seriously poor. I do believe though Uber is right, since these guys go on for HOURS in local, It's really rather pathetic and makes me glad of our no talking policy. The Uni does talk, we talk with railguns, blasters, cannons and missiles.

Someday I hope that we'll have war targets willing to fight and who don't live with their heads shoved up their ass, which why all that comes out of their mouths is shit.

Day 2 of the Tourney

And the Caldari win! Hooray! I'm not surprised but it's good too. The ship mixes were even and while people again complained about ECM, there are ways to counter it. The Gallente team got itself strung out and chewed up piecemeal. The caldari had split into two groups and fought defensive, with concentrated fire on their targets. I think again, it shows that it's more the effort and planning involved and not so much the ships.

I think I'll run some events as more exercises, with mixed fleets and Uber on one side and me on the other. Make them learn and understand about planning and fitting your ships so they work together. We need more of that. Congrats to the Caldari Team.

Day 1 of the Tourney

Well, other than the delays for both matches, which I had anticipated though hoped to avoid, it went great. Sure they only had about 2 days to get ready, but when I tried this and gave them 2 weeks to get ready, they still didn't start on time.

The first match was Caldari vs Amarr and the Caldari kind of stomped on the Amarr pretty hard. ECM was a major factor, even with just 3 ECM ships on the Caldari side. Amarr EW isn't as effective against Caldari ships. I was a little surprised the Amarr didn't mount more launchers with FOF's. Had I been their team captain, I think I would have done that. Many Amarr ships are half missile now and it would have helped removed that advantage.

The second one was Gallente vs Minmatar and bets heavily favored the Minmatar. There was a near consensus that the Minmatar would crush the Gallente without issue. And for the first few minutes it looked that way. But the Gallente team had a plan and it worked, they drew the Minmatar in, where they died in blaster range. The Minmatar team thought that Autocannons were the King of Short Range, only to find the Queen was armed with a bloody anti-matter shotgun:p

Ironically, the second boxes for the final match were set up Caldari vs Gallente and the team captains got the same team. Random selection gave them a 50% chance of this but it will still prove interesting.

Now they get the combat ships, 2 BC's, 2 Cruisers, 1 Destroyer, 1 EAS Frig and 4 frigates. This will be an interesting match up and I'm curious to see how it will go.

You know, I really think the Alliance Tourney would be Awesome if they tried this one year. Give every team a box of the same ships, so that there's less rock, paper, scissors in the strategies. That means fitting and planning would be the real winner. It really would be interesting. It would also show the better FC's since that will be far more important. You listening CCP?

I really enjoy doing the box style tourneys. Pick how many teams you want, figure up a theme for the tourney and then put a selection of ships in a box. Randomly give the boxes to the captains and tell them to find pilots. This time, we did pure race teams.

Each team got:
2 Cruisers (EWAR and Logistics)
2 Destroyers

2 EW Frigates
2 Combat Frigates Tier 3
1 Second Tier 3 combat Frigate
1 Tier 2 Combat Frigate

Total Ships per team: 10.

The winning team captains get a new box after the matches with new ships and get to find new pilots to fly them.

It's fun since this forces them to be creative and it's something of an RP style event with the racially themed teams. It's always fun seeing what sort of fits and tactics they use. Not revealing what's in the second boxes for the matches, too many Uni's read this.

First day of the war.....and nothing!

Yes, that's right, absolutely nothing....no war targets. Which means we'll have to come up with some way to amuse the students. The poor pirates are already hiding I'm sure, they know what a war for the Uni means. I'm very tempted to do another Red Vs Blue with the odd shops again. It's fun watching what people will use when they have to fly all the odd ships nobody flies normally. I think I will. The only question is, let them use T2 or make them stick to meta 0 for it. They like T2 more and the vast majority of our students have far more isk than me anyway.

Guess I'll have to send the alt off to Jita to buy ships and have them shipped down. Still, it will be fun.

I think, in my entire eve career, which started in 2005, I've only done one 'duel' or 1v1 with anyone not a corpie. And that was with a can flipper, who wasn't happy that I killed his T2 fitted Punisher with a purely T1 fitted punisher. This was after complaints of me using my flycatcher to kill. And at the time I didn't have Amarr Frigates 5.

I don't really mind dueling corpies, since for me that's more about teaching than it is....whatever. I just don't see the point in 1v1's, especially with war targets. I'm not playing this game to duel, and since the duel is more about ship choice and fits than it is skill, I find 1v1's to be....pointless and boring, unless you're doing them with a corpie to demonstrate the wonders of support skills, that I find quite useful. I guess my attitude is simply like that of Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark, when he shoots the guy waving the sword around.

Some thoughts on the word "Fair" and eve.

A war target was 'shocked' that I would refuse to 1v1 him. Considering his corp war decced mine, why would I give him that respect? His 47 pilots, of which we've only seen 3, decced us, a 1400+ person corp. This was not an agreed on war, so why would I owe him anything other than a painful death.

When people used to war dec the Uni, we'd always hear how it'd be 'unfair' if CCP protected us or that we shouldn't merit special treatment. Which is fine, we learned to defend ourselves, quite well thank you very much.

So what sort of 'fair' do we owe anyone that war decs a corp set up to train new people, who are an average of 6 weeks in game and are still figuring out how it works. If the hunting of newbies is 'fair' then is it not 'fair' for the newbies to gang up, use the methods provided in game for warfare, namely Electronic Warfare, and fight back? I mean, it's 'fair' for older players to pick on newbies right? According to the older players, it is. So why do they cry so much when their tiny corps dec a corp with 1400+ people, and then fight back. Isn't that what they were wanting? Why else did they dec us? And if our rules mean that all 1400+ of those newbies only have one goal in mind during war, which is killing our enemies, how is it 'unfair' that they hunt our war targets down with their friends?

As you can imagine, it's very confusing, this moving target of 'fair' in EVE, a game that allows you to kill anyone, anywhere, so long as you accept the consequences? Isn't that what these corps do when they CHOOSE dec a corp 28 times their size? Or is it 'unfair', that through 5 years in the Uni with me as Military Director, we've learned how to crush these people. I thought EVE was about sandbox, not 'fairness' and fluffy bunnies and Hello Kitty!.

So to all those wartargets out there, asking why we don't fight 'fair', allow me to explain one simple thing.

This is EVE and when you dec us, my plan isn't about you having fun, good fights, or anything other than getting killed the moment you undock. Eve Uni and the Rules of War

This is going to be wordy, but that's not really avoidable. I want to explain the rules that Eve Uni operates under during wartime and how they came about. Unfortunately, that means some history.

When I joined the Uni, there was no ILN. There was no navy, there was no military, not even any actual formal classes. We had no teamspeak server and everything we did was basically done over corp chat or gang chat (There was no fleets either, no squads, nothing but one great lump of people, the gang.) I'm not completely sure, it was a long time ago, but I talked to Morning Maniac about hosting what was one of the first formally announced classes. Tackling. I had originally joined to help fight, and the only training we'd gotten was on the job. I also spent quite a bit of time listening to TheKiller8 talking about PVP. So, we had the first tackling class. And then an occasional other. Then we joined something called The Big Blue and moved HQ from Nourv. to Korsiki. Lots more things happened and eventually we left the big blue and were on our own. There still wasn't much formal PVP training then and the only people allowed to FC were essentially myself, Sabre A and Ubercado.

This meant that when wars rolled around, people sat around waiting for one of the three of us to log in. There was also not really any rules other than screaming lockdown in corp chat when war targets were in system. So people were hauling, mining, missioning and doing who knows what during wars. Typical war losses for this time frame was about 600-800+ ships PER WEEK. If we were lucky, we might have 15-20 kills in return. Needless to say this wasn't acceptable.

So we started to experiment....with no doing non-war things if there was war targets anywhere close by. It failed. So no doing non-war things if there was war targets in the region. It failed. We tried banning only mining, but that still left tons of mission runners getting killed along with haulers so we banned haulers missions if there was war targets in the same area. Anyway, to cut it short, we realized that in EVE Online that locator agents, spies and cloaking ships, there was no safe place, anywhere.

I also need to point out something, for a high sec corp like ours, there's only two assets that war targets can attack. The first is a POS. We have only one POS and at the first sniff of a war mail, it gets changed from research tower to deathstar. The hows and why's of that aren't important, and should someone attack the tower, it's a chance for us to bleed them heavily. The second asset is ships. Miners, haulers, mission runners, these are all things that can be destroyed. By removing them from the playing field, only one asset in this class remains, PVP ships.

So, when all is said and done, the goal and purpose of the rules is to limit the war targets to just two choices. Attacking a deathstar POS in high sec without cap ships. Doable, but not cheap. Or he can fight our vast numbers and variety of PVP ships who all have one goal in mind, smashing his ship and picking up the goodies that fall out.

It took us about 4 years to reach the stage we're at with the current war time rules. 4 years of experience, trial and error, bloody failures and some successes to make EVE Uni one of the nastiest targets in EVE for griefer corps and smaller PVP corps. We may not always win our wars, and some we win by the skin of our teeth, but nobody can accuse us of not being willing to fight back when war comes. In some ways, our boredom is due to the success of our rules and our way of fighting. It's a hard thing sometimes, but believe me when I say that some things are harder.

Thumping the Gummi Bears....

Over a year ago, a german based corp called the Adventures of the Gummy Bears war decced Eve University. They were a typical dec, nothing special. Then one of our groups of students running wormhole sites came across a system with tons and tons of Gummy Bear POS's in it. Most were offline, quite a few were not. So we did some planning and we've killed 10 large towers so far, and put another into reinforced. Ship kills have been rather varied, but include 1 carrier (Found empty at safe spot, no avail pilot to steal), 2 command ships, and assorted others. We've also managed to steal a faction fitted Curse and a Guardian. What's amusing is the Gummy Bears seem confused as to why we would come to this WH, spend hours and hours killing their towers and attacking them all cause they war-decced us a year ago. Here's the answer....

Eve Uni never forgets our friends or our enemies. Gummy was unrepentant about their dec, their desire to kill newbies and pad their killboard. Eve Uni is unrepentant about kicking our enemies in the forks until they squeal for mercy. It doesn't matter how long it was since the crime they committed to earn their -10 standings from the Uni. If we find you in a place where we can hurt you, then we will. It as Keld so bluntly put it, a lesson for our students and for our enemies. Our students are learning about Wormhole and POS warfare as well as patience and our enemies are learning that the newbies have teeth and will fight back.

The Gummy Bears have told us they don't care about these losses, but I can't imagine anyone having to sit there and watch as the unstoppable tide of newbies smash POS after POS, kills the ships they fight back with and discovers their deep safe spots and captures assets left alone without it hurting. It would hurt me, no matter how much isk I have.

As always, I have to praise our students, they show patience, discipline and courage in fighting so far from home for long. Such people are the joy that keeps me playing EVE Online.

There have been some rumors of late about Eve Uni roaming low sec and hot dropping dreads and carriers on poor unsuspecting carebears.....I mean pirates. Allow me to reassure you. The end is not nigh. The Ivy League Navy and Eve University have no capital fleet. Any sightings of these supposed Uni dreads and carriers and titans is merely the effect of a new form of Electronic Warfare we are testing. We just make you think there's 5 capital ships with a 150 man support fleet. What's actually there is just 4 battleships and 20 assorted other T1 ships.

As everyone knows, the only ships I fly are Ravens and Hulks, so there is no reason to panic if your overview says things like Armageddon or Revelation or Phoenix. Instead, rest assured that it is merely an illusion and a group of Capital Energy Turrets didn't hit you for 5000+ points of damage. It's all in your head.

Now I would like to announce that we ARE having a special on specially engraved silver coated meathooks. Reserve your spot now in Ubercado's corpse collection and for a little extra, get that extra special hook for your cold, dessicated corpse to hang from. After all, nothing says you're elite more than your own silver, engraved meathook.

And as always, to collect your "I got WTFOMFGBBQ'd by the Newbies of Eve Uni" T-shirt, just bring your kill mail to Aldrat Pator Tech School. Just remember that if Ubercado shows up with a chainsaw and mentions it's time to shorten the line, RUN!!!

Let's see...got sick, got sick again, applying Grad schools, took the GRE, lots of out of game things like that.

In game...

We've got another faildec, wartargets that dec us and then pretty much pop up 2-3 times during the entire week. All they do is play docking games for the most part. Why do they even bother? Also had a spot of fun leading a fleet to reinforce some Uni's elsewhere, though it turned out a bust, cause the targets all ran away. That really seems to be the story of my eve life these past two years. Silentbrick logs in, targets all run away. Honestly, it's rather depressing to have that happen. And no, I don't want to join a 0.0 alliance and get 'all the targets' I can shoot. My game satisfaction is hinged on seeing noobs slaughtered griefers and older players who prey on them.

Besides, it's fun watching people learn to pew pew and FC. Still, the Uni really has been a good home for me and while the drama llama rears it's head from time to time, it doesn't really bug me anymore. The world doesn't end because a few students get upset or whine. Call me old and jaded but I'm not going to change doing what I think best for the Uni without someone making valid and compelling reasons for it.

Anyway, started the long haul to get Amarr BS 5, means less worry about changing skills and besides, it's not like I'll even remember what skill is training without looking once a day anyway.

Back home, finally. Decided to get things rolling again with a rampage since our Wartargets are refusing to fight beyond docking range and whining in local about us showing up with 30+ people. Gee, if you didn't want to fight huge groups, don't dec alliances that have more than 150 times the people you do. I really hope that soon after we get walking in stations, we get combat there too. Then no one will ever dec the Uni again. Not sure how many people are going to show up for the Rampage, looks pretty light, which means we won't be out long or find much since 20-30 people is no different than a usual war fleet. Be interesting though.

8 years. Today is the day. The best thing that you can do today is remember. Remember all of it, because the pain of it has to be remembered lest it be allowed again. The other best thing you can do, no matter where you are, no matter what country you are a citizen of, thank those that defend your country. And no, they can't all be SEALS, SAS, GSG-9 or the various special forces around the world but that doesn't matter, because they have all taken up the burden and responsibility to defend their homes and that makes them special, because they all do a job that has to be done.

You will never hear it on the news, but we know why there have been no successful attacks since that day. Because our defenders have done their jobs well. And though fame and glory should be theirs, if we cannot give them that, we can at least give them our thanks and our prayers.

T2 Production

Talk about derailing your plans, the more I get into T2 production, the more of my skill training time it eats up. Naturally I'm not going to say what sort of production I do, since I don't want any additional competition but now I have 2 accounts that this is eating training on. This isn't a bad thing, as it takes me less time than running missions do and it's alot less boring. I know I started off a miner and used to run missions alot, but that tends to be a bit boring for me. Maybe I can work myself back into it.

It's kind of sad and amusing that my more focused alts equal my main Silentbrick in some combat areas. Of course, they fall way short in all around capability. It would be nice if CCP would let us 'combine' alts on an account and squish all the SP into one, then let us fix any overlap. Of course, I still wouldn't be able to do that, since my 3 alts fulfill very different, specific positions. POS Gunner/Packmule, Research assistant and production manager, wetworks girl. Considering they're all in different corps does also cause a few issues.

Looking back, it's funny how frustrating it was to have so few skill points and yet so free of responsibilities. My decisions didn't almost daily affect the game play of more than 1000 people. There was no politics to deal with, only people I could shoot on sight, people I could shoot if they acted funny and people I wasn't supposed to shoot, and the fourth, secret category, people to run away from. Sure it'd be nice to go back to that, but I suspect it wouldn't be fun for long.

People have been poking me lately about not updating this, and while I know I should have been, I was brought up to say if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. I've been rather irked with a number of people for a while, and at this point I'm just plain tired of it. So not posting keeps there from being additional drama.

So, what have I been up to?

First, once again, I've had to step forward as Team Captain for the Ivy League in the Alliance Tourney. I had tried to let someone else do it, but fate seems to enjoy stepping on me. We lost the first match, though I really feel if we'd faced anyone but COW and their 4 T2 battleships, we would have won. We had a good solid setup that I'm sure would have won any of the 3 matches we had from the last tourney. Oh well, secret plans for Match #2 are already in progress. Secret plans.

I've also been working on the ILN or Ivy League Navy. Some of you may know that we've implemented 3 battlegroups, based on playtime. The three BG's cover 3 overlapping time zones, so that it gives us more and better structure than we've had previously. I've also appointed Gibson Thunderbird as BG Coordinator, to hold the BG CO's feet to the fire as it were, and given him the rank of Rear Admiral. Yesterday I also posted two new standing orders for the battlegroups.

The first is that they conduct at least one patrol per week, during their timezone and keep a log of the patrols. Most commonly, they'll be facing pirates but it will also provide the newer players chances to learn fleet maneuvers on real operations. The second one makes the BG's responsible for fleet formation drills, to help get people used to queueing up for fleets properly and forming quickly.

Things to do....
Well, still working on my T2 production skills, so that I'll have isk. And I'm also in the process of rewriting our standard fleet formation procedures to go along with our consolidated war regulations. One thing about the Uni, there's always paperwork to do, no matter how much you try to hide from it.

WHY DO THEY BOTHER?!

One thing I have grown increasingly bored of is corps that war dec the Ivy League and basically don't show up. It's bad enough they used to zip through the area with nano's or hide in cloak, but pretty much now they won't even do that.

We have 2 dec's currently and when you boil it down, neither party is even fighting. I think I'm going to propose a new rule for War Dec's. If the corp/alliance that initiates the dec does not get a kill each day, for each day they fail to get one they must pay a penalty of 5 million isk PER member of the corp/alliance they war dec'd. So pretty much each day these wannabe's don't bother to even fight, they'd have to pay out 80 billion isk to Uni members. That's a fitting and fair punishment for being worthless cowards.

Last night was fun. It would have been more fun, if the silly wartargets had been willing to play, but they rarely ever seem to. Since they had been hiding and retracted the war, kills against Crimson Federation have been very few and far between. Dee, Saphion, and I managed to kill a poly'd ishtar, but last night, our war targets brought a cap ship out while I was running a noobship operation.

Once our nefarious and highly secret Intel department reported the cap ship, I ordered the noobship fleet to race back to Korsiki and load for bear. Meanwhile, I went off and got the Uni Cap ship pilots online and we moved into position as the fleet returned to the enemy area, with a full up combat fleet. With our fleet ready and our cap ships lurking outside of stations 10 light years away to hot drop on the enemy, we waited for the opportunity to strike. Sadly, all the fleet got was another ishtar and a bunch of smack from the ishtar pilot.

It always makes me laugh. If your 50 man alliance declares war on a 1200 person alliance, you don't get to complain about 30-1 odds. Besides, what these people always fail to understand is that there is a difference between pvp and war. Sure, we have pvp in the Uni. But when someone decs us, we gear up to fight wars. That means we are going to fight to win while trying to ensure that our enemies can do nothing but sit there frying in their pods while we vaporize their ships. War isn't about fair or even odds. It's about destroying the enemy and not letting him do that to you.

Sadly, their cap ship pilot didn't take the bait, and instead they dropped one of their pilots to an NPC corp to start bringing in the rest of their cap ships. As we didn't have enough intel to determine exactly how many or what kind of additional ships they had, I ordered the fleet back to Korsiki. I'm not going to put our cap fleet at risk without good intel, so there was no way I was going to engage blindly. Sometimes I'm amazed how many cap ships we have though. If we'd had our full cap ship fleet though, we'd of gone in as there's no way their corp would be able to match us.

All in all, it was fun, sitting in my carrier, waiting for the word to make the first ever combat drop of Uni cap ships, but alas it will have to wait for another time.

I must take a moment to say how proud I am of the Uni pilots though. We couldn't tell them exactly what was going on, as we're always riddled with spies, but they did great turning around and switching to full blown combat operations. They were patient and disciplined, which is why I think the Uni always does so well during wartime. Our LSA, the low sec apprenticeship program also did great, playing bait and being ready to open the door for the cap fleet. And of course, our Intel guys, who always amaze me with their absolute professionalism and tremendous work, despite having to work in secret and unable to receive proper and very much deserved praise.

People sometimes ask why I don't leave the Uni and go join a 0.0 alliance...and the people are why. Eve is a very dangerous and dark place, full of people who like to play mean, and yet our alliance is filled with the kind of people I enjoy playing with. Ones that like helping and will share their own time, isk and items with a fellow Uni member, with no expectation of reward or praise. And they are willing to put their own stuff at risk, cause when someone goes after a Uni member, help is never far away. It's not uncommon for ore thieves and griefers to whine that seconds after they steal, it's like a pack of wolves has been unleashed on their trail. Sure, our students are noobs....but they are also family and they stick together. And to hit one is to hit all and so all will hit you back. That's why the Uni is the best corp in EVE.

Once more, we have war targets in frigates, inties and polycarbed Vexors bravely running through Korsiki, and then out again. Clearly this is their current method of 'winning' and stroking their e-peens. They are clearly brain damaged or something. They have declared war on us. Showing that they can run away very fast isn't very intimidating, it's not even funny. It's actually sort of dull and boring and very pathetic. They don't win anything by zipping through the system, but clearly it makes them feel good and special.

Maybe with a few more of their corpses, we can dissect them enough to figure it out. But for now, I stick to what I do know. Wartargets are not humans, they are merely vermin, below even slime molds or roaches.

EVE Blogroll and a new War.

First off, yay for being added to the EVE Blogroll, though I suspect I'll find our enemies sneaking here to try and gain intel. But then, maybe not. Most of them don't even know who we are until AFTER they declare war. Still, cool to be on it.

And a new war, against Haiduken. They've got about 40 people in one corp and 9 in their secondary corp. Basically mission gankers. Course, they should have learned our rules first, no missioning in war time so all the expensive toys get put up and out come the combat ships. Since we only use T2 or T1 and not faction ships and gear, you generally can't make a profit fighting us. Still, it's good to have a war again, I like killing people in Eve. I can run about 2 missions before I get bored and only can mine now if I'm doing something else, like RPing on a Mush or something while the roids get munched.

But, war is here, which means tapping the Warbeer kegs, taking the leashes off all the students and feeding them scraps of raw meat. I would pity our war targets, but I ripped my heart out long ago to become a Lich. So there's no mercy or pity there.

The past week we have a had a 'war'. Pretty much 5 kills each side but we have 98% efficiency. Apparently they had no clue what they were getting into and I'm sorry but a six man corp vs a 1100 person alliance doesn't tend to win much. Too bad for them.

School is finally coming to a close for the term, FINALLY! So tired of it. Course, fall term starts in a few weeks. The other good news is the end of the Nano-exploit era is coming to close. CCP is finally working out ways to fix it so that speed-tanking no longer makes you totally immune to damage and is more in line with other tanks. All the pitiful whiny crybaby nano-carebears are hilarious. A much needed kick in the forks for them. I love how their grandiose claims decry it's the end of EVE. Please. Every nerf that comes along is the "End of Eve" Funny, it's still here. If they had lived through all the Caldari Nerfs, they'd understand why I have no sympathy for them.

Brief War...School, and new War

After Kel's Dec Shield dropped, the Priv's came back. They didn't find a very welcome reception though and really got pounded on pretty hard. With the eff. ending around 86%, it just didn't go well for them at all. And if I had a heart, which I don't cause I ripped mine out a long time ago to become a Lich as part of my Evil Overlord in Training course, I might even feel sympathy. Not.

Ah well. Thanks to one class being canceled and me having to take it 2nd term, I have 4 classes at the moment, which doesn't leave much energy for EVE. So I mostly work on trying to get the standings transfered for the Uni Caldari FW corp.

I do have a new war though, on the critters under the house. So far only 1 has fallen, but there's at least one more, but he ran off before I got the pellet rifle. Still, I'll get more glue traps tomorrow and see about making life a bit more hellish for them. And maybe order those .45 ACP shotshells in case a slithery critter shows up under the house.

Ahhhh, the joys of having your own pet evil diplomat. The war finally ends, though Uber-"I'm a Moron!" BC hastings is stooping to can flipping to try and continue the fight. The students got told to ignore him, which should infuriate him even more. I'm glad the war is over though, now we can all make some money and get back to the other parts of EVE. Right at this very moment, I'm scanning down exploration sites....I should be missioning to make isk but...well, it's boring. This is boring too but I haven't done it much so instead of dull boring it's not quite so dull boring. Or something along those lines.

Faction warfare is coming soon, so I'll have to work on getting things set up for those students wanting to be involved in it. I'm also considering moving one of my combat alts over to MM to play with Sabre's main and get into the bigger wars. But I want some more support skills first...and a padded wallet.

Classes are started for the summer. whee. I can't contain my excitement. But this is the last summer I have them so hooray!

The privateers are threatening Dire Revenge after Kel's latest evil plan. Maybe they're planning on hiding from us even further away and undocking even less? After 7 weeks of war, that they're still losing, now they have to pay a billion isk per week. Thanks to their less than stellar math skills, even their own COAD post mocks them "Billions for 1 day of peace?" The only billions involved is on their new war dec fee.

BC Hastings apparently cannot stand the fact that every time the Privateers have fought us, they end up losing the war. All their claims about us not teaching PVP, or teaching blob warfare or murdering poor helpless gankers is just window dressing for BC's personal sense of failure, shame and inferiority. The longer this goes on, the deeper he digs the hole. He knows we will not pay his ransom demands, he knows he can't really win, he knows he looks like a buffoon and idiot to the rest of eve and no amount of alt-smacking on the forums can save him.

We should have pity on BC though, he likely needs professional help to overcome his "true" age of 3 years old. Except that I have no pity for him or any of his ilk. I got lots of contempt, when I bother to even notice him.

A long war, vacation and stolen kills

Stole a few more kills recently, been having good luck on getting in the last hit on a few targets. It irks Sabre to no end. I can live with that, he needs a bit of poking.

The war is dragging on but I'm not worried. The Privateers seem unable or unwilling to really push the issue and we continue to beat them by the only measuring stick we care about. This past week three more corps dropped from their Alliance and I get the impression this trend will continue. Alot of students have left, but we've still got enough to crush the Privateers when needed. More importantly, we're getting back to our roots, electronic warfare.

I sort of pity the next fool to dec us after this war ends. We've grown a VERY hard core of capable PVP pilots. They may not have tons of SP yet, but the point is they've experience now, alot of it and that means far more than SP's will.

Was on vacation for a couple of weeks, helping my dad build a playhouse for my niece and nephew...though considering it's built to pretty much house standard, with normal height ceilings, real shingles and a porch with swing, it's a bit beyond most playhouses. Still, nailguns are fun, but murder on the hands if you have arthritis like me. I'll snap a few pics of it next time I go home.

Saturday I went to practice rifle for the upcoming rifle match. Did 20 rounds standing, 20 rapid fire sitting and 20 rapid fire prone. Used the rat gun for that (Bushmaster CMP competition rifle). Then switched and did 32 rounds of prone and standing with the M-1 Garand. More fun but not as nice. Course, it's not a competition rifle but it's fun.

Now I think I'm going to go eat some blue bell. Best flavor I could find was Mint Chocolate Chip, but I'll manage;)

It seems that a privateer, who died during our rampage, whined and now their alliance CEO is all in a lather. Cept he forgot he DID NOT have positive standings and had only gone from -5 to neutral and was told any criminally flagged guys were fair game.

Still, if he's itching to get pounded on again by the Uni, we'll be happy to do it. Every previous war with them has led to privateers running to the boonies of EVE in an attempt to hide from roaming Uni war gangs. We crushed them so hard their own pilots have complained on the forums that they hate fighting us. Apparently he's got a new bunch that thinks 'blobs' are cheating. Seems to me the little crybaby needs to go play WOW if he wants fair fights. This is EVE, where fair fights happen only by accident.

After the Rampage

The Rampage was to my mind a success. Fleet size when we left was 189 ships. We scared the hell out of everything in our path and when we hit 0.0, the camp there fled and we destroyed their bubble. Since no one else showed up, we moved on then, heading to the low sec area that was our target. We managed to destroy 4 battleships, a HAC and a command ship, which undocked, thinking he'd be able to dock before we could hurt him. He vaporized in about 5 seconds. There were some smaller ships but they don't matter as much. We lost some frigs and a small reinforcement group, including a battleship but we still destroyed far more isk than we lost.

The smack talk from the local pirates was glorious however. Whining about blobs and noobs, while they hid in stations, soiling their pods. It cracks me up that they whined about being outnumbered, yet they laugh when their victims in haulers get angry about getting killed by 4-5 battleships. Pirates are the biggest wimps and carebears in EVE. They take no real risks, they seek no real challenge. They are nothing but subhuman gank monkeys, deserving nothing but contempt and derision. I like spoiling their day and our actions allowed a great many haulers and decent players to move freely about the area while the pirates cowered in station. I love it.

I feel another rampage coming...this time in 0.0, involving huge.....warp disruption bubbles! MUAHAHAHA.

Time for a Uni Rampage

Every so often, the Uni holds what I term rampages. The students hop into combat ships and we go into 0.0 or low sec and hunt people that are low security status or red to us. We even bubble up gates and while we let neutrals and blues by, anything red dies, as does anyone that attacks us, like the Event group from Mordu's legion that attacked us once in EC-P8R.

Typically we manage a few kills and cause trouble, it's a great deal of fun really and I have hopes that it will be again this time. I'm also hoping we might catch a hostile cap ship and get to kill it. At the very least, we'll scare the hell out of the local pirates when we come through. I have high hopes that turnout will mean a fleet of 100 plus, with wishes for 200. I think it's fun sometimes to show just how strong the Uni can really be and these rampages show our flag to the rest of eve.

If the pirates won't play with us in low sec, we might go into 0.0 to look for some. Might have to see about getting a T2 large bubble for that.

No Tourney for the Uni, Plus a new Rakateers War

Apparently we missed out on the tourney and it was filled up really fast, which is sad but has happened to us before.

In other news, RAK once again war decced the Uni, looking to garner publicity and lots of grudge decs. However we instituted a no-publicity policy and told no one of the war, simply closed recruiting and got ready. The first couple days were fairly dull, with Rak playing Nano-Git games with inties again until they met the fury of Anti-Interceptor Myrmidons, new and faster Uni Interceptors and the Evilness that is Harloc's Vagabond of Doom. Needless to say the poor inty getting chased by the Vaga with twice his speed cracks me up.

Then for some reason, they formed up a fleet of a couple cruisers, a couple inties and a bunch of destroyers and jumped right into a hasty gate camp we set up on the Osmon gate in Korsiki. I set up for close range, Fury T2 cruises, sensor boosters loaded with scan resolution scripts and warped to the gate as they jumped over. Got in on 5 kills, including pods. Destroyer's versus T2 High Damage Furies was pretty amusing. I don't think I got off 2 volleys at any target before it went boom. They had brought a Basilisk with them, but I'm not sure they realized he would turn flashy when it began repping them so I lit it up with cruises and stripped off half it's shields before it warped off.

Today was fairly dull, til I left and they brought down 6 smart bombing battleships and not only did they set off concord but they got hammered by the Uni. As it stands, we are ahead in both kills and isk value destroyed. We still had some afk losses but RAK retracted the war, apparently deciding that it wasn't worth it and they still seem unable to deal with groups that work together in numbers over 10 and fight with discipline, forethought and make effective use of scouting and electronic warfare.

Rak have never been nothing more than an annoyance but apparently this time they didn't even manage that. I also made sure that their lag bomb trick wouldn't hurt us by forbidding fleet operations in their home system.

They definitely earned their "I got WTFOFMGBBQ'd by Eve Uni" T-shirts this time. Maybe I'll suggest we come up with a way to sell Eve Uni T-shirts with that theme. Have to pass it along.

Once more new people stepped up to lead though, I should do more 'vacation' wars more often.

Tourney coming up.

It looks like we're going to make another run in the alliance tourney. I think we'll be better prepared this time and with the rule that you can't use pirate implants, it will help out alot. I'm not sure what we'll try yet, and it'd be secret anyway but we do plan to be better organized this time and hopefully we won't also be in the middle of a war again. That was a real crimp in our ability to do much for the tourney in the way of prep time.

Tourney will be fun though, especially if we do better this year. Looking forward to it. Meanwhile, making the iskies via missions and hopefully one day I'll have enough to buy a freighter, that would be quite useful.

End of the Wars!

Hooray! The wars are over and the cleanup starts. Time to get out and make some isk, these wars always seem to drain off all my cash. I do think that I'm going to have to bite the bullet and train some skills to make it easier for me to chase down all these stupid interceptors. They really irk me. Eventually though, they will correct the problem and speed will get nerfed like everything else has and then they'll have to fight.

I am glad that the wars are over though and we can once again accept students and resume normal operations. It's about damn time.

A very sad Deranged Carebear

For the past couple days, it seems that right after I log in, the war targets beat feet and rush to the nearest station and dock up. Then go AFK for hours on end. Since I'm popping on at a variety of times, it's not like there's a set schedule. It's a little annoying as I enjoy killing the war targets and have fun leading the fleets but if they vanish when I appear, it doesn't help us that much.

Course, it could be time I start a super secret alt to lead from but given how many spies are in the Uni, I'm sure it won't be long before they figure out who it is. It still makes me laugh how desperate the current targets are trying to get spies onto our TS and into the corp. It's even funnier since it won't actually help them much. I can't wait for the speed nerf though. Our current targets are experts at the "RUN AWAY RUN AWAY!" tactic. They must be so proud. They should boast loudly in local chat "Nobody runs away faster than me!"

Ahh well. I'm sure that this war will end soon and we'll have peace. Maybe then I can finish up the skills I need, earn some isk and maybe buy a set of snake implants to chase these gits down when they run away. I'll talk to Kodell about how to make a vagabond break 15 kps.

I will add links to some of the other blogs from the Uni, just as soon as I figure out how...or pester Dee into helping me.

A new war or Hell for the Friend Corp

3 days of peace. Talk about annoying. I would pity the Friends Corp for deccing us so soon, but I have no mercy for vermin. Apparently they got a nasty shock as they're already way behind on the killboard in isk destroyed and the comments on their killboard losses to each other are quite telling. I was lucky enough to get the first kill of the war, with the able assistance of the Uni Horde and they were not happy about it. So far their losses are 2 battleships, 1 recon ship, 1 Heavy Assault ship and 2 Interceptors, plus 4 pods. Our losses are 10 frigates, 2 battlecruisers, 1 interceptor, 1 cruiser and 6 pods. We can sustain that kind of loss rate indefinately, I doubt they can do the same.

It's always funny how it's a shock to our war targets how we fight. You would think their spies would tell them. The Uni may not have a standing military but we do train our pilots to fight a war AS a military. We fight in disciplined units, with pilots acting only on orders and we fight to win. We do not fight 1v1's or make any attempt to fight 'fair'. If we can crush our enemy 30 to 1, so much the better. Our job is to win for our corp, not offer our targets any kind of fun or fair fights. But if these wars do continue, we may transition to a standing navy. I've been trying to avoid that but it may not be possible. It would make things easier in a way. Maybe I'll talk that over with the boss lady and MM. Prolly have to move it to a second corp in the alliance. Wouldn't affect classes that much and would help a bit I think.

I hope these wars end soon. I'm tired of it myself.

Coming out of the Holidays and Rak War

As always happens, we got a war dec during finals week and the holidays. This time by subhuman vermin called Racketeers. Thanks to a single faction fitted CNR loss, we lost the war on an isk basis but essentially had them camped in stations, only moving around in the outer reaches of Empire. It's sad the amount of forum whoring they did as well, thinking everything we did was about them and because of them.

They were nothing but an annoyance and I get the feeling they will NOT redec us lest they spend another few weeks sitting in stations. They talk real brave when few Uni pilots are on, then when we come out to fight they flee like the roaches they are. We proved we can shut them down and rip them a new one if they are brave enough to come out in force.

The thing that irritates me more is this tendency to war dec us during the holidays. Seems like EVERY time I'll be away, someone declares war, even if I don't announce it to anyone.

Ubercado did an excellent job this war, as did many of our other experienced and budding FC's. It's important that people try to lead on their own, rather than having to sit around and wait for someone to log on. Sure, they might get themselves and their fleet wiped, but that's how you learn. I'd rather have that happen than see more barge and hauler kills. Those are the ones that drive me up the wall.

I need to run the Squadron commander course and perhaps another level up. But it's very hard to tell people how to conduct empire wars beyond what we do essentially at the squadron level. Maybe I'll just do it as a question answer session and discuss gate camps and how to use a large fleet to cover a system.

Finally the wars are over, which I admittedly didn't do a whole lot during because I wanted to allow others the chance to lead against such....well, minor enemies. Good practice and time in the hot seat without too much loss potential. I did manage a kill though of a very silly Brutix pilot that for some bizarre reason felt his T1 equipped Brutix with T2 drones was the match of my fully T2 Raven with ECM drones. He was blaster equipped and came in close, which was nice since I had torps. So after I ripped off his shields and 60% of his armor, he warped off leaving his nice T2 drones for me to scoop. Then he warps back in and engages me again. But sadly for him, the onrushing fleet arrived and he was locked down as the rain of torps began. Brutix fall down go boom.

That was my only kill besides a silly abbadon that jumped into Korsiki. Elirath got him to engage, then called in the fleet and we beat him down. Maybe one day our war targets will learn that Korsiki is a death trap for them.

I'm doing my first level 4 since the war started, need the money, need the mins and I like watching things go boom. Hopefully the salvage will be good though, I can use alot more bits, I want to get some more salvage tackle rigs on my salvage destroyers. Maybe I'll do some ride alongs this weekend as well.

Mining during Wartime?

It really was fun, especially since it's a big upraised finger to our war targets, who declined to brave the 20 ship gatecamp that we had going to welcome rude strangers. But we didn't mine for too long though we managed a respectable amount of ore. Veld prices what they are, I need to do some mining myself to keep my production going for a constant isk income. Of course, I could probably run missions and they'd avoid it being that A. It's me. and B. Therefore it's really a trap of some kind. Which generally it would be, but I could see using that to my advantage. Same as how all the privateers used to dock if my cov ops alt jumped into system. It always brings to mind people rushing about screaming, "Silent is coming, Silent is coming." Heck, I can't even bait most people into shooting at me anymore, even if I don't have 30 people waiting to pounce them for it.

Naturally this is my own fault in a way, given my preference for laying traps for people. But to me that's just how the game is played. Fair is you exploding and the Uni dancing on your corpse. I wish CCP would let us impale the corpses of those attacking the Uni on SAK in Korsiki. That would be funny and educational. We're starting a sniper wing though. That will be good. I'd love having that capability with the fleet. It'll let us do alot more fast raids and offensive operations that don't require elaborate plans to dump 15 tacklers onto people in order to kill them. Yay for less planning! Yay for being able to shove building it onto Ubercado! Course, he 'volunteered'. It's good to be the Evil Over....Admiral.

War, again

Once again some stupid bunch of jerks, unable to find anything else to do, has war decced Ivy League. This kind of moronic stupidity is getting seriously old and I'm hoping if this is all that dec us, we can make them spend a week in station, soiling their pants. I like forcing so called "great pvper's" to have to sit in station, knowing there's a bloodthirsty mob of 'noobs' waiting outside to eviscerate them and nail their corpse to the station.

I also hope that people will remember to obey the war time rules and we've suffer less than usual losses to people being dumb and wandering around alone or flying on autopilot or trying to mine with war targets in system. I don't mind actual combat losses so much, but the petty stupid losses cause people are not paying attention bug me.

Maybe if I yell enough, we'll have enough EW this war. Last time we were seriously lacking on our EW because everyone wanted to do damage. EW is how we win and the more people remember that, the better.

Question is of course, how to make them. I can make them fairly fast via level 4's. They require attention though and basically I have to concentrate on them. This also gains me the higher level minerals for production. It leaves me lacking though on Trit and Pyerite. I get some, but not huge amounts. It's usually better to mine for that. But I think right now...I'll just instead do missions and get the isk so I can buy a tower. I'll be needing that so that I can get my BPO's researched up. I just bought a new one to start using as well. I don't have all the bpo's but I do have a very respectable amount of them and certainly enough to make money off of. It was pure luck one of mine ended up 200/200 ME/PE since I had no idea about them at the time and it was back when you could find slots to use in stations. Make that TWO new BPO's today. Be a while before they pay for themselves, though not too long if I run missions alot.

I'm curious of course how long it'll take for me to be able to anchor the tower. Definately be interesting however when I do.

The war is over!

Finally, the war is over! That means an end to having to worry so much. Plus with the Tourney over at last, I can get back to trying to fill my wallet instead of empty it. I'm afraid to look at how many millions of isk I poured into the tourney, plus with war losses it's not going to pretty. I went through a large amount of my carefully horded T2 gear. But with Zharkov having lost a raven as well, it means we're going to need alot of isk just to get back to where we were.

Having the Navy Raven will help though, doing L4's just a bit faster I think, though I do need to set a couple of missions aside as ride-alongs. Still, I got some of my skills up and with my carrier down in low sec now, it means a bit of relief that I don't have to constantly worry about it getting moved. Gee, thanks MDK for petitioning that, shows some real class. But then I have no respect for them, like so many that war dec us, they are nothing but sub-human vermin, bugs to be stepped on or rabid animals to be put down. Nobody that war dec's the Uni is looking for a good fight. They are looking at ganking people who can't fight back. This is why I will never have any respect for them, because their actions are worthy of nothing but contempt and derision.

Hmmmm, time to put Evil Silent back in the box. With the war and the tourney done, we can finally get the navy starting to roll and that'll be a good thing. Hopefully with some of the players sticking around longer, we'll be able to match corps like MDK in numbers when it comes to heavy ships and not have to rely so much on the directors. I'd seriously love to have the ability to field 100 ship Uni fleets with 25-30 T2 fitted battleships included. It'd definately put an end to people sniping at us if we have 2-3 times their own number of snipers.

Time to make some iskies and continue the fleet roster.

The Beginning

Well, someone suggested the directors should start blogging. Heck, why not. Course, I won't be putting any privileged information here so don't think you'll get any inside dirt or even toe jam. Cause I'm mean that way.

Anyway, for those who don't know who this is....This is about EVE Online and my character Silentbrick, who is a director and Fleet Admiral of Ivy League and Eve University. I'm in charge of the military arm of the Ivy League alliance and oversee the PVP courses that we teach as well as events, training bouts and tourneys.

Yes, the title of this is Deranged Carebear, cause that's what I am. Silentbrick is a miner with production capabilities. He also is a mission runner, so no, my primary focus is not on PVP. However, being a "Deranged" carebear means that while my focus isn't PVP, I'm not bad at it though and poking me might get you a nice volley of faction cruise missiles shot back at you in return.

Currently with Ivy in a war with MDK atm, the Alliance Tourney going on plus school on top of it, I’m not going to be posting much for a bit. Still, I think we’ve made a good showing in the tourney and as always, we’ve fought hard against MDK though we’ve not used our fleets to our best advantage. Hopefully that will change or MDK will get bored and leave. I for one am getting sick and tired of these twits.
